But a storm is blowing from paradise
Gemensam titel med Linda Persson
But a storm is blowing from paradise. The trees bow towards us, bending under its force. It is a cold wind that catches at our faces, cutting them with its bite and with the scraps and dust it carries with it. Our eyes sting as we glance upwards, into the past, towards that distant swirling origin. Refuse gathers at our feet, the things of the world: rags, papers, branches feathers, wire and sand, shards of glass.
The idea of beauty is like a rub on a wound. How could this be beautiful, all these things, this and this and this, this thing, this picture, this veil or tail, this burnt stump, this moonlight, this spider. Beauty is a maw that consumes each detail. We ache for the universal but encounter only things; here in space, now in time. Look closely. Can the thing dissolve within itself, shed itself and strive downwards, towards that distant paradise, even as we ourselves areblown further and further from it, even as more refuse, more things, more details gather at our feet.
